F.A.Q.

1. Where can I place my bioethanol fireplace?
decoflame® bioethanol fireplaces are suitable for any location in an apartment, house, cottage, office, restaurant or spa. Installation of these flueless fires is done in minutes and does not require an outside or bearing wall.

 2. Does installation require any sort of approval?
This depends on the country in which the installation is planned. Please always check with your local authorities. Today, there are not any approvals necessary in Denmark and the UK.

3. Is the installation of my decoflame® bioethanol fireplace difficult?
No, this is actually a matter of minutes. Just follow the enclosed fitting instructions. All decoflame® floor models come already pre-assembled and just need unpacking.

4. Is my decoflame® fireplace ready for use after installation?
Yes. The only thing you need is bioethanol which is not included with the fireplace.

5. How do I light up my decoflame® fireplace?
Use long fireplace matches or a long lighter for fireplaces.

6. Is bioethanol dangerous?
No, our decoflame® biothanol is really nothing else than 96.5% alcohol which is denatured, i.e. made unfit for human consumption. In comparison to gel, bioethanol burns clean and residue-free, not leaving unpleasant odours or fumes in your home. When burning, it dissolves into water and CO². Also, using bioethanol reduces the CO² emission by 80% in comparison to buring gas, coal or oil (fossile fuels).

7. Is it dangerous to inhale the combustion gas?
No, it consists of plain water and a bit of carbon dioxide.  Harmful fumes are avoided by using a bioethanol fireplace instead of a gel fireplace. Generally, gel fires should not be used inside.

8. In which container sizes is bioethanol supplied?
decoflame® bioethanol can be supplied in 1 litre bottles or 3 litre jerrycans.  It should be poured into smaller containers in order to facilitate fuelling of your fireplace.

9. How long can one litre of bioethanol burn?
In between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the fireplace model, its burner size and the room ventilation.  One litre of bioethanol generates around 7.2 kW/h.

10. Will my decoflame® bioethanol fireplace generate a lot of heat?
Depending on the decoflame® fireplace model it can generate from 2 to 6 kW/h increasing the temperature in a room of 30-40m² by around 3-5°C. A flueless decoflame® bioethanol fireplace, however, should only be regarded as a cosy supplement to your primary source of heating.

11. Can I fire up my decoflame® bioethanol fireplace with paper and wood?
No, all decoflame® bioethanol fireplaces are strictly to be fuelled with bioethanol only.

12. How can I exstinguish the fire in my bioethanol fireplace?
We recommend that you let the bioethanol contens of the burner burn off completely. Should you wish to exstinguish the flame before the burner is empty, please use the burner lid to do so. Depending on the model of fireplace, slide (with enclosed handle) or place (wearing oven gloves) the burner lid to close the burner opening. This cuts off oxygen supply and exstinguishes the fire immediately.

13. What is the inside of my decoflame® bioethanol fireplace made of?
The inside of the fireplace is made of metal which is powder-coated with a fire- and heat-resistant paint.
